Please explain how drum and bugle corps and the performing arts can help preserve the culture of music and the arts in your community?

"When a performer puts their heart into a performance, it is always recognized by the audience. These heart-filled performances happen constantly on the field during any drum corps event. The connection between the performer and the audience member inspires the viewer to want to take part in music activities. Most attendants of drum corps events are high school students. When these kids see the performance, it inspires them to continue their music education. These kids then become the performers, and the cycle starts again."

"I believe that drum corps is more than an extreme sport; it's more than the music, it's more than the late night bus rides, and the early morning rehearsals. Participating in a drum corps is about perseverance, bravery, dedication, and mental strength. Drum corps has taught me to never give up, to never believing the doubter in your head, and never give less than everything you have."

Keaton Lantrip"I cannot think of anyone more deserving of an award from your esteemed organization than Keaton Lantrip. I have had the privilege of knowing Keaton for almost three years. From the moment I met him, I could tell that this kid was something special. He carries himself with the composure of someone twice his age, and serves as a role model for all his peers. Keaton’s natural talent is only trumped by his incredible work ethic, which is truly inspiring to witness. He has an incredible passion for the marching arts activities, unbelievable passion for his corps, and a passion for his fellow members that is unequaled. He was such an obvious choice for horn sergeant, because if everyone were to aspire to be like Keaton, the group could achieve the same heights that Keaton is sure to reach for the rest of his life in whatever he chooses to do.” -- Christian Carichner, Brass Caption Head, Phantom Regiment
